WHAT'S NEW i 2015?


The International meeting for new health researchers 7-8 May at Instituto politécnico de Leiria Leiria, Portugal is now in progress.

Members of the IRIS-network has presented keynotes adressing "Research and development in (Health) science"
(Dr. Raymond Kolbaek, VIA UC-Denmark and "Research in online environments" (Dr. Maria Cassar, University of Malta)

The IRIS members willhost their own session at the conference adressing the startup for the new Erasmus+ application.

Works in Progress 2014 at University of Malta, Valetta Campus has ended

The final evaluation

WIP 2014 is over. The final evaluation was done today and revealed that everyone had done a very good job.  We congratulate you all with your achievements and wish you good luck with your research

The third Works in Progress intensive program for master’s students was set up at the University of Malta. Works in Progress is an EU funded intensive program lasting for 12 days.
Master’s students from Trinity College Dublin Irland, Oslo and Akerhus University College of Applied Sciences, Norway, Instituto Politecnico de Leiria, Portugal, College of Nursing Jesenice Slovenia, and University of Malta have gathered at the Valletta campus with lecturers from each institution, as well as a lecturer from VIA University College, Denmark, to learn together about the research proposal and share experiences and ideas about their master’s proposals. Students represent the many fields in health and social care – from Occupational therapy, Social Care, Education advocacy to Anasthesia and Oncology Nursing. It is a 24 hour learning experience with inspiring discussions spilling out of the classroom and on to the beautiful surroundings in Malta. (2013-1-NO1-ERA10-06366)

The meeting had two focuses. Prepare Work in Progress for May 2014 at Malta and prepare the Next Erasmus+ application for raising Fundings to continue the work of IRIS.

13 students from Oslo and Akerhus university College of Applied Sciences participated in Iris activities in the spring of 2013.


Mibrak Mekonnen, advanced practice mental health nursing will work on her final project and do a clinical study at Instituto Politecnico de Leiria, Portugal


7 students from the master programmes in Clinical Nursing Science and Interdisciplinary Mental Health Work have been chosen to participate in "Works in Progress" IP (2012-1-NO1-ERA10-04941) in May. Instituto Politecnico de Leiria will be hosting the event. The picture shows Mette Sagbakken and Georg Schjelderup (faculty) and 5 of the students: May Elin Nereng, Synne Oppegård, Sameera Tou and Kristin Kleiveland. Paul Andre Vetvik Killie and Mette Haram will also participate.


5 students will be visiting Columbia University School of Nursing, i NYC. They will be doing observational practice and working on final projects and master thesis.
